Blackwell walks

Kevin Blackwell has left Sheffield United just two league games into the season.

The Blades announced they had parted company with their manager following today's 3-0 home defeat to QPR.

United drew 1-1 at Cardiff on opening day but were dumped out of the League Cup at League One Hartlepool during the week.

The former Luton and Leeds boss intimated to reporters that he had been sacked as he avoided the after-match press conference.

He had been in charge at Bramall Lane since February 2008 and took them to the play-offs the following season. Last year United finished eighth.
