Bruce sacked
Wednesday, 30/11/2011
Sunderland have sacked manager Steve Bruce.
The Black Cats have won just two of their first 13 games this season and are on the edge of a relegation dogfight.
Bruce, who had been in charge at the Stadium of Light since summer 2009, was booed by fans at the weekend as they slumped to a home defeat by Wigan.
The former Manchester United defender lost record buy Asamoah Gyan in September when he was shipped out on loan.
And despite bringing in almost a whole team of new players the Wearsiders failed to find any form.
Assistant boss Eric Black has been put in temporary charge.
Another former Man United defender - former Wales and Blackburn boss Mark Hughes - is among the favourites for the job along with ex-Liverpool chief Rafa Benitez.
