Capello in bother
Monday, 06/02/2012
England boss Fabio Capello could be in hot water for speaking out over the FA's decision to axe John Terry as skipper.
The FA took the armband off Terry last week and notified Capello and then Terry of the move.
Capello was told that Terry could not wear the armband whilst he has a court case pending but that they would not stop the player being selected.
At the weekend Capello voiced his disagreement about Terry been dropped as captain.
"I thought it was right that Terry should keep the captain's armband," said Capello.
"I have spoken to the chairman and I have said that in my opinion one cannot be punished until it is official and the court had made a decision to decide if John Terry has done what he is accused of."
Now the FA are believed to be considering what action they may take against Capello, said to earn £6m a year.
They are not happy that he went public with his views and disagreed with their decision.
The Italian could be in breach of his contract by voicing his opinions on such a matter.
However the FA will find themselves in a Catch 22 situation as the coach has got the team to Euro 2012 and they know it would be very difficult to appoint a replacement just month away from the finals.
Capello is due to leave the England post after the finals.
Terry is due in court after the finals to face a racial abuse allegation. He will deny the accusations.
