City’s double boost
Thursday, 17/11/2011
Premier League leader Manchester City have received a double boost from Mario Balotelli and Adam Johnson.
England winger Johnson has agreed a contract extension at the Etihad whilst Italy striker Balotelli has turned down the chance to return to Inter Milan.
Johnson, 24, is now tied to the club until 2015. He arrived from Middlesbrough for £7m in January 2010 and was Roberto Mancini's first signing.
One of the most exciting prospects around, Johnson hasn't had the run in the side he craves and has shown his displeasure at being on the subs bench or substituted.
But now he has finally agreed a new deal after months of negotiations.
Balotelli had a poor first season with City and after regaining his form this campaign the £24m was wanted back at Inter.
But the hitman has now said he is happy to stay in Manchester - although he has admitted that both Milan sdies and others in England and Spain had made inquiries about his services.
