Dalglish’s double push
Wednesday, 29/06/2011
Liverpool are likely to step up their pursuit of Stewart Downing and Charlie Adam.
Having already landed Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson this summer, boss Kenny Dalglish is determined to get Scotland ace Adam alongside the England man.
The Reds failed in a bid for Blackpool's Adam in January but are now likely to push hard for the move following the Tangerine's relegation from the top-flight.
Dalglish is also keen to bring in England winger Downing from Villa - and now knows that the former Middlesbrough midfielder is keen on a move from Villa Park.
Liverpool have already missed on midfielder Sylvain Marveaux who joined Newcastle after failing to agree terms at Anfield.
They have also lost the race for Ipswich's teenage striker Connor Wickham, who has also been linked to Anfield.
