England defeat Egypt
Wednesday, 03/03/2010
Super subs Peter Crouch and Shaun Wright-Phillips ensured struggling England came back from 1-0 down to beat Egypt in their friendly at Wembley.
England trailed at half-time to a goal after 23 minutes by Zidan and looked lack-lustre. But second-half sub Peter Crouch pulled them level after 52 minutes as he side-footed home. Fellow sub Shaun Wright-Phillips then made it 2-1 after 75 minutes.
Man of the Match Crouch ensured England's 500th international victory with his second goal of the game ten minutes from the end. It was his 20th strike in 39 games for his country.
Meanwhile, Northern Ireland lost 1-0 in Albania, Scotland beat the Czech Republic 1-0 thanks to a Scott Brown goal, but Wales were beaten 1-0 at home by Sweden.
