England’s World Cup finalist!
Friday, 09/07/2010
Premier League referee Howard Webb will referee Sunday’s World Cup Final.
The 38-year-old from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, will take charge of the Holland v Spain game after impressive displays at South Africa 2010.
The former policeman is the first English ref to officiate the final since Jack Taylor in1974. With Webb will be assistants Darren Cann and Mike Mullarkey.
Webb refereed this season’s Champions League Final, which he thought might have gone against him landing the biggest game on the planet. He also officiated at the 2007 Carling Cup Final.
Jack Taylor said: "When I first saw him I felt he had the ability to go a long way and I'm glad that he has. He is absolutely first-class.”
