Eto’o gets 15-game ban!
Saturday, 17/12/2011
Samuel Eto'o has been banned for 15 games by Cameroon.
His country have outlawed their captain for his part in a players' strike over bonuses due to be paid at a tournament last month.
Eto'o, one of the highest paid players in the world, has ten days in which to appeal the ban.
Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has been fined around £1,200 for his part in the dispute.
Eto'o, 30, plays for mega-rich Russians Anzhi Makhachkala, and will now miss Cameroon's opening qualifiers for the 2013 Africa Nations Cup and the start of their campaign to reach World Cup 2014, if he does not appeal successfully.
Cameroon failed to qualify for next month's Africa Cup of Nations.
