Foster England shock
Wednesday, 11/05/2011
Birmingham City keeper Ben Foster has made himself unavailable for England to concentrate on his club career.
England's current No.2 behind his friend Joe Hart says playing continuous football has taken its toll on his body
Foster, 28, who has been a revelation this season since his move to the Blues from Manchester United, had hoped to become England's No.1.
At the start of the season he said: "I want to be playing no matter who I'm with and England's no different."
His decision, which is almost certain to be challenged by international coach Fabio Capello, leaves the door open for Watford's England Under-21 keeper Scott Loach to progress.
Ironically, Foster's decision comes on the day when he is being linked with a high profile move to Tottenham.
