Gerrard’s new deal
Thursday, 12/01/2012
Steven Gerrard has agreed an extension to his Liverpool contract.
The 31-year-old Anfield captain now looks set to end his playing days at Anfield.
Stevie G said: "It's a very proud day for myself and my family."
The England midfielder joined his local team in 1987 and made his full debut for the Reds in 1998. He has now played more than 560 games for the side.
Chelsea have made two bids to lure the Scouser away from Merseyside but the player turned them down.
Gerrard has been hit by injuries this season but it is no coincidence that his return to action has brought a change in Liverpool's fortunes, including last night's League Cup semi-final first leg victory against Man City, thanks to his spot-kick.
