Ryan Giggs has agreed a new one-year contract with Manchester United.

The former Wales winger, now 37, takes his time at Old Trafford to an amazing 21 years.

Giggs, who has made a record-breaking 850-plus appearances for the club, including more than 600 in the Premier League, said: "All I've ever wanted to do is play for United and I've been lucky enough to do that for 20 years. This is an exciting time to be involved with so many good young players coming through."

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson added: "You run out of words to say about Ryan Giggs."

Defender Patrice Evra is also set to agree a new three and a half year contract with the Red Devils.

It is understood he has been given a substantial pay rise as Sir Alex Ferguson attempts to keep together his experienced players with his up and coming youngsters.

Among others already on new deals are Nemanja Vidic and Wayne Rooney - and it is highly likely that striker Dimitar Berbatov will also commit himself to a longer stay with the club.

Gary Neville and Edwin van der Sar have announced their retirements, but Paul Scholes may also play on for a further season.
