Goal-line technology next year?
Thursday, 24/11/2011
Goal-line technology could be used in Premier League games next season.
Football's governing bodies are expected to take a decision next July and electronic eyes could even be in place for 2012-13.
Just a few months ago it was thought that fans would have to wait until 2013-14 for any technology to be in place.
But it is understood that FIFA are pleased with a number of the systems they have had under test.
More testing of the electronics is due early next year - but the equipment will only be used to decide if the ball has crossed the line or not when there is any doubt.
Last year's World Cup proved an embarrassment to some football chiefs when Frank Lampard put the ball across the line for England against Germany (pictured) but no goal was given.
