Gyan for Sunderland

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has joined Sunderland subject to a medical and agreeing personal terms.

The World Cup 2010 star is understood to have cost the Wearsiders around £12m from French side Rennes.

He will partner England striker Darren Bent following the departure of Kenwyne Jones to Stoke City.

Gyan, 24, was impressive at South Africa 2010 as his country reached the final 16. He has been a target for Sunderland boss Steve Bruce for most of the summer.
