Friday, 07/01/2011
Roy Keane has been sacked after 20 months in charge at Ipswich Town.
The former Manchester United defender had come under increased pressure from his board and the fans after a disaml series of results.
Keane, 39, who was in charge at Sunderland in his first maagerial job, had seen the Tractor Boys beaten in seven of their last nine games, leaving them in the Championship danger zone.
The former Republic of Ireland defender could be followed at Portman Road by former Wigan boss Paul Jewell, who has been working as a Sky Sports pundit.
Keane admitted: "I am hugely disappointed to be leaving Portman Road. When results aren't good the manager gets the sack, that's the game."
