Lescott leaving
Sunday, 22/08/2010
Defender Joleon Lescott looks set to be the next big name to leave Manchester City.
With Craig Bellamy already on loan at Cardiff, and Stephen Ireland departed to Aston Villa, England defender Lescott has reportedly been offered to other clubs for the rest of the season.
The former Everton man, who can operate in the centre of defence or at left-back, could be out of Eastlands this week. He is highly unlikely to rejoin the Toffees who he left under a cloud.
City are hoping they can persuaded out-of-favour keeper Shay Given to stay at the club. He is believed to have been offered a big pay rise and a new contract. Given would love to join Arsenal, who are keen but probably unwilling to meet his wages. Fulham, set to lose keeper Mark Schwarzer to the Gunners, are favourites to land the Irishman.
