Liverpool to get their Coates

Liverpool are reportedly in talks with Nacional over the transfer of Uruguay international defender Sebastian Coates.

The 6ft 6in centre back recently won the Copa America with Uruguay and will be keen to link-up with international team-mate, Luis Suarez, at Anfield.

Coates was named the Best Young Player at the Copa America and is one of most highly-rated defenders in South America.

The 20-year-old is rated in the £12m bracket and would be an ideal replacement for the recently departed Sotirios Kyrgiakos. 

Coates would be The Reds' sixth signing of a busy summer transfer window and will provide good competition for places in defence.

Manchester City had been linked with a move for the promising youngster but Kenny Dalglish has moved quickly to get an edge on the deal.
