Man United nearly there

Manchester United took a giant step to reclaiming the Premier League title from champions Chelsea with a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.

The Blues were 1-0 after just 36 seconds when Javier Hernandez put United ahead. Nemanja Vidic headed a second on 23 before Frank Lampard pulled one back on 68 minutes.

United need just one point from their next game, at Blackburn next weekend, to seal a record 19th top-flight title. They are currently on 18 title wins, the same as Liverpool. It would also be United's 12th Premier League title.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men would need to lose at Ewood Park and then suffer defeat in their final home game of the season to Blackpool to miss out – and at the same time Chelsea would have to win both their games, home to Newcastle and and away to Everton.
