No-go Defoe

Harry Redknapp has knocked back suggestions that striker Jermain Defoe could be leaving Tottenham.

The England hitman has been linked with a move to Everton and other clubs so he can play more regularly and boost his Euro 2012 hopes.

But Spurs boss Redknapp said: "If we're going to do anything we'll add to the squad, we won't be weakening it at all. That's the message from both myself and the chairman."

Redknapp said that both Defore and Jermaine Jenas, currently out of action injured but on loan to Aston Villa, both have futures at White Hart Lane.

The manager knows he could face a stiff test to hold onto many of his players during the January transfer window with bids likely for defender Kyle Walker and midfielder Luka Modric from a number of sides.
