Parker ready to move
Tuesday, 30/08/2011
Tottenham are close to agreeing a deal with West Ham United for England midfielder Scott Parker – despite late problems over the deal.
Spurs are not keen on the £8m price tag placed on the player and may offer cash plus a player going on loan to Upton Park.
Last season’s Footballer of the Year has been linked with a return to the Premier League all summer, after the Hammers suffered relegation last season, and with White Hart Lane one of the rumoured destinations, he now looks likely to link-up with Harry Redknapp’s men before the transfer window shuts tomorrow.
Parker has been with the East London club since 2007 when he signed in a £7m deal from Newcastle and has made 113 first team appearances at Upton Park, scoring 13 goals.
Hammers manager, Sam Allardcye, left Parker out of the squad for his team’s 4-1 victory at Nottingham Forest on Sunday and it now appears as though the 30-year-old former club captain has played his last game in claret and blue.
Meanwhile, it seems likely that Spurs midfielder Wilson Palacios will leave the club with the Honduran midfielder set to undergo a medial at Stoke City after the two clubs agreed a deal.
