Pires trains with Arsenal

Robert Pires is training with Arsenal – but he won't be following Thierry Henry's lead and rejoining the Gunners.

"The beautiful story between the Gunners and Henry is going on. Not mine," said French winger Pires, who is currently without a club.

Pires, now 38, left Aston Villa at the end of last season and could return to his home country but is also considering offers from China, India and the Far East for one last big pay day.

The Frenchman played 284 games and scored 85 goals for the Gunners between 2000 and 2006 before leaving for Villarreal.

He had hoped to stay with Villa at the end of his six-month contract but the decision of Gerard Houllier to step down as manager meant the player was not offered a new deal.
