Redknapp England verdict
Thursday, 15/09/2011
Harry Redknapp has admitted it would be difficult for any Englishman to turn down the chance to manage England.
The Tottenham boss, favourite to take over from Fabio Capello after Euro 2012, says he has had no contact from the FA over the post.
But he added: "I'm not pushing myself for the job. Whoever gets offered the job, if they're an Englishman it would be hard to say no because it's your country."
Redknapp has also said that taking the job would be like a "poisoned chalice" if England were to win Euro 2012 and added: "It would be like following Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United."
Spurs take on PAOK Salonika in Greece tonight in the Europa Cup with a number of injury problems, including defender Michael Dawson ruled out for two months with an Achilles injury.
Redknapp admitted: "The whole situation is a nightmare. I have no idea what team I will be able to play."
