Republic on the verge
Friday, 11/11/2011
The Republic of Ireland took a massive step towards the finals of Euro 2012 with a convincing 4-0 victory in Estonia.
The home side had two players sent off as the Irish got more than just the one goal away from home that they had been hoping for.
Ipswich's Keith Andrews headed them in front after 13 minutes before the first player was sent-off
Stoke's Jon Walters headed in the second on 67 before Robbie Keane made it 3-0 just four minutes later.
On 77 minutes Estonia had their second player dismised, for two yellow cards, and just two minutes from time Ireland's record scorer Keane added to his tally from the penalty spot.
A full house can expect big celebrations for the second leg in Dublin on Tuesday evening.
