Rooney: I’m staying!

Striker Wayne Rooney has hit back at reports suggesting he is ready to quit Manchester United.

The England star initially claimed he wanted to leave the club late last year but then signed a new five-year contract at Old Trafford.

There have been suggestions that the deal could have been put in place so that United could cash in on one of their star players.

But boss Sir Alex Ferguson has always wanted to keep his frontman and now Rooney has denied he still wants to leave.

"I'll be here until I'm well into my 30," he said. "I signed a new contract to stay here and unless I'm ever not wanted then I'll be staying here, that's for sure."

Rooney has been plagued by poor form and injuries this campaign but just recently has shown signs that he could be getting back to his deadly best for the Premier League leaders.
