Rooney injury scare

The whole country is sweating on the result of a scan on Wayne Rooney’s right ankle.

All England fans will be praying that the Manchester United striker is not as badly injured as was first feared after he went over during the Champions League game against Bayern Munich.

But former West Ham striker Tony Cottee, now a Sky Sports pundit, reckons that the injury may not be as bad as was first feared.

Rooney removed his boot and had to be helped off the pitch after landing awkwardly on his ankle.

First reports suggest he will miss this weekend’s vital Premier League game with Chelsea and the home leg of the tie with Bayern.

Rooney had scored first as the Germans won the first leg tie 2-1.
