Spurs for England
Tuesday, 20/04/2010
Tottenham defenders Ledley King and Michael Dawson are in line for a shock call up to England's World Cup squad.
With increasing doubts about Rio Ferdinand's fitness and John Terry's form, boss Fabio Capello has been checking out his defensive options.
Spurs skipper King's experience weighs heavily in his favour, even if he is restricted to the amount of games and training he can do because of knee problems. He is widely regarded as one of the best central-defenders in the game and his knowledge could be a major boost if the Three Lions two regulars are missing.
Dawson's form has been very impressive in recent weeks and Capello has been keeping a close watch on the former England Under-21 star. A few years ago Shoot tipped the Yorkshire-born defender to make the grade and he looks almost certain to be included in the Italian's next 30-man squad.
