Tevez appeals fine

Tevez appeals fine

Tuesday, 31/01/2012

Carlos Tevez is appealing the fine levied against him by Manchester City.

He has called on the Premier League to get back an estimated £1m-plus he has lost in wages for being absent without leave from the club.

He has already had one fine imposed by the club reduced on an appeal.

But City fined the Argentina striker a further six weeks wages at the end of December for gross misconduct.

Earlier this month he appealed to the club against that fine but his plea was thrown out.

Tevez has now appealed to the Premier League – despite being in his home country since the start of November.

It could be near the end of next month before any appeal can be heard and meanwhile it looks likely that Tevez will now remain a City player until next summer.

Both Milan clubs and Paris Saint Germain have expressed interest in the player in recent weeks but all now appear to have cooled interest.

City have insisted they want to sell Tevez rather than let him go out on loan.
