Tevez is back

Tuesday, 14/02/2012

Carlos Tevez is back in England after being absent without leave from Manchester City since November.

He is thought to be heading to the club's Carrington training ground for a meeting late this afternoon.

The 28-year-old has returned from his native Argentina saying that he needs to get fit.

It is believed that if City can heal the rift between the striker and manager Roberto Mancini the club already has a fitness regime mapped out for the hitman.

Tevez has hinted he might apologise to Mancini over the dispute that began when the player allegedly refused to take to the pitch as a substitute.

The manager has previously said that if Tevez apologised he could be back in his team.

"I don't know if he is in good condition or not. I don't think so because he hasn't played for four months. But Carlos recovers strength very quickly.

"Carlos knows the situation. If he comes back, we talk. Why not? I don't have a problem," said Mancini.

Although still top of the Premier League City have shown in recent weeks that they could do with the clinical finishing power of Tevez if they are to maintain their challenge for the title.

City fans will take some winning over and have snubbed buying replica shirts with the star's name on the back.

Tevez said: "Now I will face the challenge and for me that is to come back to training and also to see all of my colleagues."
