United stars likely to stay

United stars likely to stay

Tuesday, 01/03/2011

Dimitar Berbatov and Paul Scholes are set to be the next Manchester United stars to sign new deals.

United are in talks with both players about extending their days at Old Trafford.

Talks are advanced with striker Berbatov, 30, who still has more than a year left on his current deal.

He is unlikely to get a pay rise - like fellow frontman Wayne Rooney - but it is understood the Bulgarian is keen to play on at United, which could, effectively end his career in Manchester.

Scholes has been reluctant to add a further year to his playing days - but having seen fellow veteran Ryan Giggs extend his own deal, and with talk of a coaching role in the pipeline, the midfielder could be talked into yet a further year with the Red Devils.

Like Giggs, and the recently retired Gary Neviile, Scholes has spend the whole of his playing carrer at United with Sir Alex Ferguson.
