Warnock sacked

Sunday, 08/01/2012

Neil Warnock has been sacked as boss of QPR.

After losing six and drawing two of their last eight games Rangers chiefs have axed their 63-year-old gaffer.

In a statement Warnock said: "Obviously I am very disappointed but having achieved so much I leave the club with a great sense of pride."

Warnock left Crystal Palace in 2010 and helped QPR avoid relegation from the Championship.

Last campaign he led them back to the Premier League as champions.

Former Wales, Blackburn, Man City and Fulham manager has already been linked with a move to Loftus Road.

QPR owner Tony Fernandes had earlier Tweeted: "We are disappointed where we are in the league. It’s important to note that no one’s job is safe.

"Results are key. If I don’t deliver I would be the first to step down as chairman."

Vice-chairman Amit Bhatia added: "It is with a heavy heart that we make this announcement. I played a key role in bringing Neil Warnock to Loftus Road and consider him to be a great personal friend."
