Young for Sunderland

Aston Villa right-back Luke Young is wanted by Sunderland.

Black Cats boss Steve Bruce wants the former Spurs and Charlton defender to replace Alan Hutton.

Hutton, on loan from Spurs for part of last season, appears to have been priced out of a move to the Stadium of Light.

Young, 31 next month, had a season a Middlesbrough before moving to Villa Park where he has been played out of position and not been used as much as he would have expected.

The former England full back would probably cost around £3m - half of the figure being quoted for Scotland star Hutton.
