Leagues 1 & 2
by Daniel Tyler
LEAGUE ONE
Kevin Lisbie, Leyton Orient
Another exciting weekend in League One and the player of the week once again goes to a Leyton Orient man. Last week it was Dean Cox for his brace against Preston and now striker Kevin Lisbie for his double against fellow strugglers Scunthorpe.
The 3-2 win was another vital victory for Russell Slade’s men, their first away from home and one that lifts them off the bottom for the first time in ten weeks.
Veteran frontman Lisbie has never been the most prolific, but he defiantly packed his shooting boots on Saturday. The former Charlton man produced two good finishes in the space of four minutes to turn the game around and stretch Orient's unbeaten run to three matches.
The Jamaica international's movement worried Scunny all afternoon, an attribute the 33 year-old can hurt many more defences with as the season progresses.
LEAGUE TWO
Milel Mohsni, Southend United
Southend stayed top of League Two after a late double from Milel Mohsni secured an impressive 3-1 win at Crewe.
The French striker was only on the field for six minutes after coming on as a substitute, but his quick-fire brace keeps the Seasider’s sailing along nicely with five straight league wins.
The 24 year-old scored his first with two minutes left on the clock, a brilliant diverted header back across the goalkeeper.
His second produced a great touch and finish on the stretch, which wrapped up the victory for Paul Sturrock’s men, one that looked in doubt before the Frenchman’s introduction.
International
Craig Mackail Smith, Scotland
A trip to Liechtenstein for Scotland looked simple enough as the hosts had picked up just four points in seven games. But the reverse fixture proved this game would be no walkover.
That night at Hampden saw Stephen McManus' head a 97th minute winner to claim a 2-1 victory and save the blushes of the Tartan Army.
Saturday in Vaduz also proved to be a tight affair with Craig Mackail Smith's first international goal the difference on the night.
The Brighton striker showed terrific determination to get above his defender to loop a brilliant header over the goalkeeper.
In just his third international appearance the 27 year-old characteristically ran his socks off all night and his defending from the front, as well as the goal helped Craig Levein’s men secure all three points, which keeps them in with a chance of a play-off spot.
