Premier League

by Daniel Tyler

DAVID SILVA, Manchester City

Roberto Mancini’s side grabbed a 1-0 victory to end Arsenal’s nine-game unbeaten league run in a pulsating encounter at Eastlands.

The all important strike came from playmaker David Silva, after he latched onto a loose ball in the six-yard box.

As well as the goal the Spaniard was immense throughout, linking delightfully in attack with Mario Balotelli and Sergio Aguero.

The former Valencia man has been one of the stars of the season to date with his amazing technique and fantastic vision proving too much too handle for many of his opponents.

Championship

BILLY SHARP, Doncaster Rovers

Doncaster took on Leicester knowing they needed to put together a run of victories to put them back in with a chance of survival.

And Dean Saunders' side duly delivered with a fantastic 2-1 win over Nigel Pearson’s play-off hopefuls.

The Championships Player of the Month for November, Billy Sharp, was at it again.

The striker scored two goals in three minutes to turn the game on its head and snatch all three points.

The second was a wonderful acrobatic volley which took his tally to nine for the season.

Donny still sit in 23rd, but are now just two points from safety.

Leagues 1 & 2

League One

JORDAN RHODES, Huddersfield

After going 43 league games unbeaten Huddersfield were on a run of a different kind after successive defeats to Charlton and Bournemouth.

This weekend was no easy test either as they made a short trip to Hillsborough take on promotion rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

It turned out to be a fantastic game ending 4-4 after a 97th minute equaliser from the Terriers.

Their man of the moment and the season so far was striker Jordan Rhodes, who notched all four goals for his side.

The first two were powerful headers while the third and fourth were great right foot strikes, in what proved to be a finishing master-class.

The Scotland international now has 19 goals this season, including three hat-tricks.

League Two

GUY MADJO, Port Vale

Port Vale were in danger of losing touch with the play-off places after just one win in seven games.

However this all changed with a fantastic 4-0 victory over fellow play-off hopefuls Aldershot.

The Valiants had front man Guy Madjo to thank after he grabbed a hat-trick.

The Cameroonian’s clever movement and cool finishing was too much for the Shots backline as Vale cruised to a comfortable win.

The 27-year-old is currently on loan from Stevenage until January, but after four goals in two games boss Mickey Adams will be keen to extend the deal.
