Premier League
Hugo Rodallega (Wigan). The Colombian hit two goals in the 3-1 win at Burnley and his £4.5m transfer fee is starting to look like money well spent. The big boys could once again be sniffing around the DW Stadium…
Championship
Peter Whittingham (Cardiff). City went second in the league with their incredible 4-3 win at Sheffield United – but it was the winger’s first hat-trick in 17 years that won him the plaudits. He set himself a target of ten goals this season – and already has 12!
Leagues 1 & 2
LEAGUE ONE
David Connolly (Southampton). It may not have been the best performance of the weekend, but his arrival as sub, plus a goal, was a major achievement. The striker was written off last summer because of injuries and it was more than two years since his last league goal – he proved the doubters wrong.
LEAGUE TWO
Jack Lester (Chesterfield). He’s been called one of the best players in the division and it’s not difficult to see why. Lester led the line and scored one in the 5-2 win over Burton.
