There were emotional scenes at White Hart Lane when Tottenham beat Manchester United  in their final ever game at their home for 118 years ahead of their move to Wembley for next season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will treat the national stadium as home for a full season as the development of their new stadium on the White Hart Lane site really kicks into gear.

Spurs played their European games under the arch this season, however, their struggles (winning just one in four) will not have fans making the walk down Wembley way confident ahead of next season.

Former Tottenham man and BBC Sport pundit, Jermaine Jenas, thinks it will have an adverse effect as well, claiming it could even cost them a shot at the Premier League title having gone close in the last two seasons.

Writing in his BBC Sport column, Jenas said;

“The only thing that worries me about next season for Tottenham is that they will be playing their home games at Wembley.

“If Spurs were staying at White Hart Lane then I would be thinking they can go on and win the Premier League, but Wembley is a genuine issue for them.”

Before they have to think about a title next year, however, Pochettino’s men will want to end the season on a high with wins against both Leicester and Hull City this week.
