Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham will need to overturn a one-goal deficit against Gent on Thursday (8.05pm kick-off) if they are to progress in the Europa League.

Spurs were second-best in Belgium a week ago and deservedly lost 1-0 to the Belgian outfit, but they are only one-goal down, and know that they are more than capable of getting the goals required to reach the last 16.

After back-to-back defeats in all competitions, Pochettino’s men got back to winning ways with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Fulham on Sunday in the fifth round of the FA Cup, and they will now face League One outfit Millwall in the quarter-finals, who knocked Premier League champions Leicester out in the last 16.

Nonetheless, the Europa League is the main focus for this week and, given that it offers a place in the Champions League for next season, it would be advantageous for Spurs to go for it, as their top four position in the Premier League is far from certain.

It’s also been nine years since Spurs last won a major trophy, yet with a league game against Stoke coming up on Sunday, Pochettino is likely to make a few changes to his side at Wembley tomorrow.

Thus, here are THREE players who deserve a chance in the Europa League against Gent…
