After the emergence of Manchester City as top-four and title contenders, matches between the Sky Blues and Liverpool have been close fought affairs.

With both sides contesting one of the most exciting seasons in 2013/14, finishing in the top-two places, these games often bring about world-class goals.

It has become a game for the big players to step up, with Steven Gerrard and Sergio Aguero both scoring important goals in this fixture.

But with Aguero an injury doubt and Gerrard playing in America, both clubs will have to rely on other heroes.

Raheem Sterling will be facing up against his former club for the first time, after the controversial £49m move that took him to City in the summer, whereas Coutinho will be looking to bag another goal against the Etihad side, something he has achieved three times.

Shoot looks into how the two compare so far this season…
