The Premier League is back, and one of the favourites for the title in the 2016/17 season is Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who begin their campaign by hosting perennial strugglers Sunderland at the Etihad.

The Citizens finished in a disappointing fourth last term but they will be aiming for the top with Guardiola at the helm, and a number of summer arrivals including Ilkay Gundogan, Leroy Sane and John Stones.

However, their main man is still likely to be star striker Sergio Aguero, who scored 24 goals last season, finishing just one behind the Golden Boot winner – Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

Meanwhile, Sunderland and their new boss David Moyes have a prolific finisher of their own in the form of Jermain Defoe, and without his 15 goals in the 2015/16 campaign they would have almost certainly been relegated to the Championship instead of arch-rivals Newcastle United.

Shoot takes a look at how the duo compare ahead of their match-up on Saturday…
