Manchester United made it three wins from three to start the season, as they scored in stoppage time to beat a resilient Hull City side 1-0 at the KCOM Stadium.

Jose Mourinho’s side were dominant throughout, but despite large amounts of possession, struggled to break down a determined home defence. However in the second minute of stoppage time, Wayne Rooney got to the by-line and cut the ball back for substitute Marcus Rashford to tap-in for his first goal of the season, to end Hull’s unbeaten start.

Manchester City kept up pace with their neighbours as they beat West Ham United 3-1 at the Etihad. Pep Guardiola’s side made a fast start and were 2-0 up early on through Raheem Sterling and Fernandinho. The Hammers pulled one back in the second-half through a Michail Antonio header, but Sterling grabbed his second in stoppage time from a tight angle to seal the points.

Chelsea were the other side to make it three wins from three with a comfortable 3-0 win over Burnley at Stamford Bridge. Eden Hazard gave the home side the lead with a wonderful solo goal, ending with a precise finish from the edge of the area. Willian doubled the lead shortly before half-time with a driven strike, before substitute Victor Moses netted in the final minute of normal time.

Arsenal secured their first win of the season as they beat Watford 3-1 at Vicarage Road. The Gunners led after just nine minutes through Santi Cazorla’s penalty, after Alexis Sanchez was fouled. The visitors then netted another two times shortly before the interval thanks to Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. The Gunners’ three strikes was enough to take the points, despite Roberto Pereyra pulling one back for the Hornets on his debut.

Defending champions Leicester City also got their first win of the season with a 2-1 triumph over Swansea City at the King Power Stadium. Jamie Vardy’s first goal of the season set the Foxes on their way and Wes Morgan smashed in a second after the break. Riyad Mahrez missed out on adding a third after seeing his penalty saved, before Leroy Fer pulled one back for the visitors to add some tension at the end.

Tottenham and Liverpool shared the points at White Hart Lane in a 1-1 draw on Saturday lunchtime. James Milner gave the visitors the lead from the spot after Roberto Firmino was fouled in the first-half, before Danny Rose stabbed in 20 minutes from the end to rescue a point for the home side.

Sunderland secured their first point under David Moyes with a 1-1 draw at St. Mary’s against Southampton. Both teams netted in the final ten minutes, with the Black Cats taking the lead from the spot through Jermain Defoe after the striker was fouled by Jose Fonte. The Saints equalised with just five minutes left however as Jay Rodriguez struck a shot under Jordan Pickford for his first league goal since March 2014.

Crystal Palace netted in stoppage time to rescue a 1-1 draw with AFC Bournemouth at Selhurst Park to secure both sides first points of the season. Josh King put the Cherries ahead early on, before Palace missed the chance to equalise when Yohan Cabaye saw his penalty saved by Artur Boruc. However in the third minute of stoppage time the Eagles did equalise when Scott Dann powerfully headed in Jason Puncheon’s cross.

Everton maintained their unbeaten start under Ronaldo Koeman with a 1-0 win over Stoke City at Goodison Park. The Toffees’ goal came in fortuitous circumstances, as they were awarded a penalty after Ashley Williams was fouled and Leighton Baines’s spot kick was tipped onto the post by Shay Given, only for the ball to rebound off the post, onto Given’s head and back into the net.

Middlesbrough continued their unbeaten start to the season with a drab 0-0 draw against West Brom at the Hawthorns. Craig Dawson headed just wide from a corner for the home side; meanwhile Daniel Ayala’s close range effort was poked straight at Ben Foster for the visitors.
