In the North London derby it finished all-square between Arsenal and Spurs as they played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane.

Aaron Ramsey’s flick put the Gunners ahead in the first-half, before Francis Coquelin picked up a red card early in the second-half for the visitors. The man advantage inspired Spurs and they netted twice in two minutes through Toby Alderweireld and a Harry Kane wonder strike to go ahead.

However, Arsene Wenger’s side responded well and Alexis Sanchez scored his first goal since October to rescue a point. The draw leaves Spurs second but now five points off the top, whilst Arsenal stay third and are now eight points from the summit.

That draw meant Leicester extended their lead at the top of the table following a narrow 1-0 win over Watford at Vicarage Road. Riyad Mahrez’s brilliant strike just before the hour proved enough for the Foxes to extend their lead at the top to five points with nine games to play, whereas the Hornets have just one win from the previous six and sit 12th.

Manchester City stayed in touch with the top three with a comfortable 4-0 win over Aston Villa at the Etihad. It took until the second-half for City to get the first goal through Yaya Toure, but from then on it was comfortable as Sergio Aguero netted twice and saw a penalty saved either side of Raheem Sterling’s goal. City remain fourth, just two points off third, whilst Villa stay bottom, nine points from safety.

West Ham stunned Everton as they came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Goodison Park. The home side led early through Romelu Lukaku before Kevin Mirallas saw red just after the half hour for two yellow cards but, despite that, Aaron Lennon struck to double the Toffees’ lead just before the hour.

The Hammers pulled one back through Michail Antonio’s third goal in a week with 12 minutes left and then three minutes later Diafra Sakho equalised. Then in stoppage time, Sakho’s flick fell for Dimitri Payet to net the winner that makes it three successive wins for West Ham to take them up to fifth, whereas Everton suffer a second straight home defeat and are now 12th.

Manchester United lost ground on the top four as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to West Brom at the Hawthorns. Juan Mata was sent off after just 26 minutes for two yellow cards and Albion took advantage midway through the second-half when Salomon Rondon struck the winner. The Red Devils slip to sixth, three points off the top, whilst the Baggies move up to 11th.

Bournemouth put more breathing room between themselves and the bottom three with a 3-1 triumph over Newcastle at St. James’ Park. The Cherries led when Josh King’s low cross was put into his own net by Steven Taylor, before King himself netted the second with 20 minutes left. The home side had hope when Ayoze Perez scored, but the visitors finished the game in stoppage-time through Charlie Daniels. Eddie Howe’s side are 14th and 11 points clear of the drop, whilst Newcastle remain second bottom with a third straight defeat.

Sunderland were denied three crucial points thanks to a late Southampton equaliser in a 1-1 at St. Mary’s. Jose Fonte was shown a straight red card for Saints with 11 minutes remaining and just five minutes later Jermain Defoe put the visitors ahead. However, in the third minute of added-on time, Virgil van Dijk smashed in an equaliser to ensure Sam Allardyce’s men move just a point above the drop zone, whereas Saints sit ninth without a win in their last three.

Swansea moved further away from the bottom three with a vital 1-0 win over Norwich at the Liberty Stadium. Gylfi Sigurdsson’s finish on the hour mark was enough to take the Swans nine points clear of the bottom three, whilst the Canaries remain in the drop zone with eight defeats from their last nine.

Liverpool came from behind with ten men to net a last minute winner to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park. Joe Ledley gave the Eagles the lead early in the second half, before James Milner was dismissed minutes later. However, Roberto Firmino equalised for the visitors and in the fifth minute of stoppage-time, Christian Benteke was brought down by Damien Delaney in the box and the Belgian netted from the spot. The win leaves the Reds in seventh, whereas the Eagles drop to 15th without a league win in 2016.

Chelsea and Stoke shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. Bertrand Traore gave the Blues the lead with a lovely strike just before half-time in just his second league start, but with just five minutes remaining, Mame Biram Diouf nodded in an equaliser for the Potters to leave them in eighth, whilst the Blues sit 10th.
