Jose Mourinho’s Premier League holders get their title defence under way with a home match against an impressive Swansea side, but they could be without their star striker.

The Blues’ top goalscorer from last season, Diego Costa, is a doubt with a hamstring problem, meaning either Loic Remy or Radamel Falcao – who each played 45 minutes in last weekend’s Community Shield defeat to Arsenal – should start. Mourinho has no other injury concerns ahead of his side’s Premier League opener.

Garry Monk’s Swans finished in eighth last term, and after adding some impressive new faces, including Ghana international Andre Ayew, they will be confident of enjoying another successful campaign. They will also hold no fear in this clash having beaten Manchester United at Old Trafford on the first day of the 2014/15 season.

The only doubt for the Welsh outfit is defender Jordi Amat, while new recruits Kristoffer Nordfeldt, Franck Tabanou and Eder are expected to be named on the substitutes’ bench.
