Reading are reportedly closing in on the signing of Bournemouth striker Yann Kermorgant, according to the Sun’s Football League Reporter, Tom Barclay.

With Cherries boss Eddie Howe signing two strikers – Benik Afobe and Lewis Grabban – this month, the Frenchman has fallen further down the pecking order at the Vitality Stadium, and now looks set to complete a move to the Championship.

A number of teams from England’s second-tier, including the 34-year-old’s former team, Charlton Athletic, and Bristol City had been interested in the attacker, but the Royals look to have beaten off their interest from the duo.

Kermorgant scored 15 goals in 38 appearances last season as Bournemouth were promoted to the Premier League, but has struggled for game time this term.
