Rivaldo admits he would have gone to China himself if he was offered the same opportunity as Chelsea star Diego Costa.

The forward was reportedly the subject of a £30m-a-year offer from Tianjin Quanjian earlier this month, before the Spain international was involved in a training ground bust-up with manager Antonio Conte.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, the Brazil legend sympathised with Costa and said it would be hard for any footballer not to be interested in a mega-money move to China.

The 44-year-old said, “Players in that situation think about their future don’t they? About their children and about their family.

It’s a unique opportunity for a player. Of course, he’s already in a big club, but this is a unique opportunity and players will always think about the personal side of things.

Just as the club, you know, the club will have to sell… when they are offered that much money, a club will certainly sell a player.

So, it’s the same for the player. And I sincerely think that I would calmly go to China.”

Costa, 28, has impressively scored 14 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions for The Blues so far this season, although recent reports suggest the striker is demanding £300,000-a-week to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
