Two goals from the in-form Reuben Reid sent Plymouth three points clear at the top of League Two on Sunday, with a 2-0 away victory over Notts County.

A goal in each half from the striker ensured the win for Argyle, despite County dominating the majority of the game.

Crawley Town pulled off the shock result by winning 3-2 at home to Leyton Orient. Jay Simpson continued his scoring streak by putting the O’s ahead in the first 10 minutes, but the Red Devils hit back through Roarie Deacon, Mitch Hancox and Simon Walton’s penalty, as Orient also went down to ten-men before half-time.

A second period effort from Simpson was not enough for the away team to salvage anything as they slip down to seventh.

Portsmouth came from behind to win 3-1 away to Cambridge thanks to Matt Tubbs’ hat-trick. The result means Pompey remain the only side in the division to remain unbeaten away from home.

Whatever Mansfield boss Adam Murray told his players at half-time worked as his side thrashed Newport 3-0, with all three strikes coming in the second period. Craig Westcarr and Adi Yussuf got on the scoresheet, while Malvind Benning hit a sublime left-footed volley.

Accrington made it five wins in six games with a narrow 2-1 away victory over Barnet; Sam Togwell and Sean McConville with the strikes for Stanley, while Northampton defeated Hartlepool by the same scoreline at Sixfields with defender Ryan Cresswell heading home the winner from a corner.

Shaun Miller’s brace saw Morecambe win 3-2 at Carlisle as they held on desperately to their lead in the final third of the game, and Oxford’s George Baldock was the hero as he hit a late winner to seal a 1-0 home victory over AFC Wimbledon in a result which sees the U’s move up to third.

Exeter and Stevenage played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at St James Park. Despite the home side leading 2-0 and then 3-2, Teddy Sheringham’s side secured a point thanks to a stunning strike from Chris Whelpdale in stoppage time.

Elsewhere, York ended Luton’s four-game winning streak with a 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road and, finally, struggling Yeovil bounced back from two goals down to share the points with Dagenham at Huish Park.
