Player of the Month: Roberto Soldado (Villarreal)

Yes, you read that right, the same Roberto Soldado from Tottenham is our Player of the Month. In his first two games back in Spanish football he scored two goals and contributed two assists. There was a lot of focus and pressure on the 31-year-old due to his disappointing spell in England, but so far the forward has delivered. The Yellow Submarines’ new addition will be hoping to replicate the goalscoring form that he showed at Valencia with the ultimate aim of working his way back into the Spain national team.

Manager of the Month: Jose Luis Mendilibar (Eibar)

Last season Eibar managed to avoid relegation due to 13th placed Elche being relegated due to money issues. Due to that, this time around Eibar were many peoples’ favourites to go down, but Mendilibar has led the Basque side to two wins from two so far. The opening day saw them record a 3-1 away win at Granada before following that up with a shock 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao. Although early days, they sit second in La Liga, level on points with leaders Celta Vigo.

Goal of the Month: James Rodriguez (REAL MADRID vs Real Betis – his 1st goal)
