Walters scored both of Ireland’s goals in their 2-0 second-leg win.

Unable to play in the first-leg Euro 2016 play-off against Bosnia due to injury, Walters was recalled and told to send Ireland through to next summer’s competition in Dublin.

The Merseyside-born forward did not disappoint, coming up with both goals as the Irish came out 3-1 winners on aggregate.

In typical Walters style, he hassled and bullied the Bosnian centre-backs, and was patient for his chances.

The Stoke forward is already very much looking forward to the Championships, saying after the game: “We’ve just got to take it in because these moments don’t come around often in your career.”
