After a stuttering end to the season, Charlie Adam found his best form of the season in May to grab Shoot’s Player of the Month award, helping make sure Stoke City claimed their annual mid-table finish.

The Scotland international has been in and out of the Potters’ team this season, but injuries to the likes of Ibrahim Afellay and Stephen Ireland has given Adam a run of games at the back end of the season.

Adam scored one and assisted one during May as Stoke recorded a ninth-placed finish for the third successive season.

Mark Hughes’ men started the month with a 2-1 defeat away at Crystal Palace, where Adam opened the scoring, for his only goal of the season.

The Potters then ended the season on a high, defeating high-flying West Ham United at the Britannia, where Adam’s corner was headed in by Mame Biram Diouf in a 2-1 win for the hosts.
