The lunchtime kick-off to commence the Premier League action on Saturday will see struggling Swansea City welcome Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to the Liberty Stadium.

Francesco Guidolin, who admitted that his job as head coach at the South-Wales outfit is under increasing threat, will oversee a side in dire need of an upturn in fortune.

Last weekend, Swansea’s troubles were deepened with a 3-1 defeat against table-topping Manchester City at home.

A brace from Sergio Aguero, followed by Raheem Sterling’s effort earned Pep Guardiola’s Sky Blues a deserved three points, despite Fernando Llorente drawing Swansea level earlier in the contest.

The Swans have now failed to record maximum points since a 1-0 triumph at Burnley on the opening day of the 2016/17 campaign. Their winless run has perched them just above the relegation places prior to the visit of an in-form Liverpool.

The Reds recorded their third successive win last Saturday, beating Hull City 5-1 at Anfield to consolidate fourth position in the top-flight.

Adam Lallana opened the scoring 17 minutes into the game, as further strikes from Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and James Milner’s brace confirmed a resounding home victory against the men from Humberside.

With expectations lifted following their recent form, free-scoring Liverpool will be confident of returning back to Merseyside with a positive result on their travels.

Swansea can take heart from their last fixture against Liverpool, which they won 3-1 at the Liberty Stadium back in May.

Team News:

Swansea defender Federico Fernandez, who missed the Man City defeat due to a groin strain, will be assessed prior to kick-off.

Winger Nathan Dyer remains out injured for the hosts with an ankle issue.

Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren is likely to return to the Reds’ starting line-up after recovering from a virus that forced him out against Hull.

In goal, Loris Karius is set to retain his place in between the posts, ahead of Simon Mignolet.

Striker Divock Origi could feature in Wales, he has recovered from a minor foot problem.
