Fans have had their issues with the Glazers

Owning a staggering 98% stake in the most successful Premier League club in England, the Glazers have come under huge amounts of stick for the way they have run the club. Similar to Arsenal, fans have regularly complained about the family using United as an investment vehicle. But not many fans were on board from the start, as they realised how much debt the club would have to take on under their ownership. This debt was split between the club and the family, which meant the club were in the red for the first time since 1931. Fans have staged many protests against the family, with the slogan “Love United. Hate Glazer” being sang around Old Trafford. A group of wealthy supporters, known as the Red Knights, tried to take over the club and give it back to the supporters, but they backed out due to the Glazer family’s valuation. Malcolm Glazer passed away in 2014, aged 85, but his death has not caused any changes made to the running of the Red Devils.
