This League One game at Elland Road had it all. Jon Parkin got the visitors off to the perfect start, getting on the score sheet inside five minutes. Leeds were quick to respond though and goals from Luciano Becchio, Alex Bruce and a double from Davide Somma put Leeds back in control. Parkin netted again before half-time to give Preston a small glimmer of hope at 4-2.

After the break, it didn’t take long for the goals to start flowing again and efforts from Keith Treacy and skipper Callum Davidson drew the Lilywhites level. Six minutes later, Parkin had his hat-trick and Iain Hume put an end to the madness, scoring Preston’s sixth of the match.

Leeds manager Simon Grayson, who is now manager of North End, and his side were left to come to terms with how things just went so wrong.
