Top 5: Things to look out for before the end of the 2016-17 Premier League season

Arsenal’s tactical switch

Gunners boss Wenger.

The majority of talk around Arsenal this season has revolved around Arsene Wenger and his future at the Emirates Stadium.

Whilst this will continue until the end of the season, unless the Frenchman’s new deal is finalised before the summer, one thing that may be worth keeping an eye on is the club’s recent tactical switch to a three-man defence.

This change has been made in recent weeks and has been fairly effective after guaranteeing three consecutive wins for The Gunners – against struggling Middlesbrough, last year’s Champions Leicester and the other coming in extra-time against Manchester City in their FA Cup semi-final.

By switching to three at the back, Arsenal became the 17th team to play with this system this season, whilst Chelsea could be on course to become the first Premier League champions to win the title by playing this way.

It was, of course, Antonio Conte that began to dominate headlines by playing this system and Wenger admitted himself that it was the first time he had played that way in 20 years.

It will be interesting to see how they fare in their remaining fixtures.
